Sumberkima Hill Retreat
Bali - South East Asia
About
Sumberkima Hill Retreat is located in a quiet part of North West Bali, far away from the usual tourist spots. It is a place to come and relax, enjoy good food, wellness and particularly the views: beautiful sunrises and sunsets, facing the ocean and the mighty volcanoes from the neighbouring island of Java in the background.
This unique destination offers more than 50 villas and apartments—each designed to balance traditional Balinese style with modern comfort and all with sunrise or sunset views. Sustainability is part of everyday life here, from organic farming and helping restore the local coral, to supporting the nearby community.
The retreat is about four hours from Bali’s airport, offering a true escape from the crowds—far from busy Canggu and even peaceful Ubud. Experiences range from kayaking to private islands and sunrise hikes to yoga sessions in a sea-view shala. The restaurants focus on pure, locally sourced ingredients, many grown on the property’s own organic farm.
We have visited Sumberkima Hill three times—twice for a week and once for two months. These extended stays allowed us to fully appreciate the retreat’s serene atmosphere, attentive service, and connection to nature. It’s an ideal spot whether you’re seeking a short escape or a longer, immersive stay in one of Bali’s most authentic regions.
Favorites from our visits include the three-bedroom villas Bidadari, Lana, Lulak, Pipit, and Singa; the two-bedroom villas Uma, Bali Minyah, and Jahe; the cozy one-bedroom Murai; and the apartments Felix and Lana. Each accommodation offers privacy, style, and direct access to Bali’s natural beauty.

5 stars with a golden lining. We were lucky to find Pili and Dano. They made excellent photos for our retreat. You will find Pili shining in many of our website and Instagram photos, a great model as well as editor. And Dano is always looking to find the best angles for the photos. What a great team!
